Mid-Term #2

I just took my history mid term this monday, and I did better than I did last time! On my last mid-term I had gotten a 78%, on this mid-term I had gotten a 80%. Not much of a difference, but still recognizing that I did better than last time! I did my Mid-Term on the Vietnam War. The terms that were infixuated with the Vietnam War given on the mid-term, out of 11, only 4 were on there. Which was a bummer, but I worked my way around it. The 5 terms I had chosen were 1) The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution 2) The Credibility Gap 3) Iran Hostage Crisis 4) Crisis of Confidence 5) Peace Without Conquest. I was pro at the Gulf of Tonkin Resultion and redibility Gap, and I did fairly well on the Peace Without Conquest part of the essay. I believe I did well considering how un-talented I am at history. Memorization of certain dates and names then connecting it to the bigger picture and linking it to other ideas, just isnt my forte. History is VERY interesting to me, but it's not my strong feild of study. Writing is. Which is probably why i've been getting A's on my primary document analysis'.

Chapter 29 Quiz

Alright, so i'm about to take the Chapter 29 Quiz. I'm hoping for at least a 90% this time! Give us some easier question for once Dr. Arnold! Just kidding. I believe that I will do fine, but i guess we'll just have to see! I've been passing all my quizzes with a B. Except for my first quiz WHICH I was totally not prepared for, my bad. But i've been doing fine so far! I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Class Discussion

We had a class discussion sometime last week about President Johnson. We were discussing 2 primary documents, one "Peace Without Conquest" and The Telephone conversationg between president Johnson and Bundy. I believe that President Johnson was two timing and manipulative. Thats my own personal opinion, between those two documents, he completely goes against what he said in the "Peace Without Conquest" speech. In the speech he talks about democracy and peace for Vietnam, but yet in the telephone conversation with Bundy, he questions "Why should I even care about Vietnam?" That doesn't sound like a very confident and responsible president. Yes, I do understand that he does have many stresses in his life as President, but he shoulden't go around saying that, then saying something completely opposite a year later at his speech in 1965. I do believe, though, that he is a strong willed president. Maybe not in his "telephone conversations" or his unfaithful "speeches". But he does within himself have a strong mind which did make him, realistically, a "decent" president.
